Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 12 Bhakti Yoga, Verse 20

🔷 भावार्थ:

भगवान श्रीकृष्ण यहाँ साफ़-साफ़ कहते हैं, जो लोग उनके बताए हुए अमृत-स्वरूप भक्ति मार्ग को पूरी श्रद्धा और विश्वास के साथ अपनाते हैं, वे उनको सबसे ज़्यादा प्रिय हैं। ऐसा व्यक्ति सिर्फ़ किसी नियम की वजह से पूजा नहीं करता, बल्कि उसका मन, विचार और जीवन सचमुच भगवान के नाम में डूबा होता है। वो भगवान को ही अपनी अंतिम मंज़िल मानता है — बाकी सब बातों का, दुनियावी इच्छाओं का, उसके लिए कोई ख़ास मतलब नहीं रह जाता।

 

इस श्लोक की बात करें तो श्रीकृष्ण यही समझाते हैं कि भक्ति सिर्फ़ बाहर की शो-शोबा नहीं है — असली भक्ति है मन का लगाव, श्रद्धा और समर्पण। जिस भक्त के मन में भगवान के लिए सच्ची श्रद्धा और निर्विवाद समर्पण है, वह भगवान की नज़र में बहुत ऊँचा स्थान पा लेता है। यहाँ 'धर्म्यमृत' का मतलब है ऐसा मार्ग जो धर्म से जुड़ा है, और जो आत्मा को अमृत-सा सुख और शांति देता है। इसे उस व्यक्ति के लिए श्रीकृष्ण 'अत्यंत प्रिय' शब्द इस्तेमाल करते हैं — यानी उसका प्यार, सम्मान और महत्व भगवान की नज़रों में जो कोई भी कल्पना कर सकता है, उससे भी कहीं अधिक होता है।

 

कुल मिलाकर, यह श्लोक हमें यही सिखाता है कि भगवान के पास पहुँचने का सबसे सुंदर और सच्चा रास्ता है भक्ति और श्रद्धा। बस दिल से भगवान को अपना मान लो, बिना किसी स्वार्थ या भय के — और फिर देखो, तुम्हारी भक्ति भगवान को कितनी प्रिय लगती है।

Verse 20:

ENGLISH

Ye tu dharmyāmṛtam idaṁ yathoktaṁ paryupāsate |

Śraddadhānā mat-paramā bhaktās te ’tīva me priyāḥ ||

🔷 Meaning:

Here, Lord Krishna explicitly states that those who embrace the nectar-like path of devotion—as prescribed by Him—with complete faith and conviction, are the dearest to Him. Such a person does not worship merely out of adherence to a rule; rather, their mind, thoughts, and entire life are truly immersed in the name of the Lord. They regard God alone as their ultimate destination; for them, all other matters and worldly desires cease to hold any significant meaning.

 

In this verse, Krishna explains that devotion is not merely an external display of rituals or pomp; true devotion lies in the heart's attachment, faith, and surrender. A devotee whose mind holds genuine faith and unwavering surrender toward God attains a very exalted position in the eyes of the Lord. Here, *'Dharmyāmṛtam'* refers to a path rooted in righteousness (Dharma)—a path that bestows upon the soul a happiness and peace as sweet as nectar. For such a person, Krishna uses the term *'Atīva Priyāḥ'* (extremely dear)—implying that their love, honor, and significance in the eyes of God transcend anything the human mind could possibly imagine.

 

In essence, this verse teaches us that the most beautiful and authentic path to reaching God is through devotion and faith. Simply accept God as your own—wholeheartedly, without any selfishness or fear—and then witness how infinitely dear your devotion becomes to the Lord.
