श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता - अध्याय 1, श्लोक 21

अनपेक्षः शुचिर्दक्ष उदासीनो गतव्यथः।
सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रियः॥ 12.21॥

Hindi:
इस श्लोक में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं—जिस भक्त का मन पूरी तरह साफ है, जो किसी चीज का लालच नहीं करता, अपने काम में माहिर है, किसी भी मुश्किल या हालात से डगमगाता नहीं, दुख की भावना से ऊपर उठ चुका है और अपनी हर मेहनत का अहंकार छोड़ देता है—वही सच्चा भक्त है। ऐसे लोग भगवान को बहुत प्यारे होते हैं।

 

एक आदर्श भक्त की पहचान क्या है? वो अपने काम में अच्छे हैं, अंदर से शुद्ध हैं, बिना किसी स्वार्थ के काम करते हैं, किसी भी परिस्थिति में शांत रहते हैं, दुखों से निकल चुके हैं और “ये मैंने किया” वाली सोच को छोड़ देते हैं। अगर किसी के अंदर ये सभी गुण आ जाते हैं, तो वो भगवान का सबसे प्रिय हो जाता है।

 

ENGLISH:
anapekṣaḥ śucir dakṣa udāsīno gata-vyathaḥ
sarvārambha-parityāgī yo mad-bhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ

In this verse, Lord Krishna states: A devotee whose mind is completely pure, who harbors no greed for anything, who is adept in their work, who remains unshaken by any difficulty or circumstance, who has risen above the sense of sorrow, and who renounces the ego associated with their efforts—such a one is a true devotee. Such individuals are extremely dear to the Lord.

 

What are the defining characteristics of an ideal devotee? They excel in their work, possess inner purity, act without any selfish motives, remain composed in all circumstances, have transcended suffering, and abandon the mindset of "I did this." If a person cultivates all these qualities within themselves, they become the most beloved of the Lord.
