हिंदी अर्थ:

इस श्लोक में भगवान एक सच्चे भक्त का चरित्र समझाते हैं। वे कहते हैं—जो इंसान न तो ज्यादा खुश होता है, न किसी से द्वेष रखता है, न पछतावे में डूबता है, और न ही किसी चीज़ की चाह में उलझता है—जो अच्छा-बुरा सब छोड़कर बस भक्ति में डटा रहता है, वही उन्हें सबसे प्यारा है। उसके मन में न कोई लालसा है, न कोई घृणा या अफसोस। वो जैसी भी स्थिति हो, संतुलन बनाए रखता है। यही भगवान का सच्चा भक्त है।

Srimad Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 12, Verse 17

Yo na hrishyati na dveshti na shochati na kankshati,
Shubhashubha parityagi bhaktimaan yah sa me priyah. 

He who neither rejoices nor hates nor grieves nor desires.

He who renounces good and evil and is full of devotion is dear to Me.

English meaning:

In this verse, the Lord explains the character of a true devotee. They say—the man who is neither overjoyed, nor hates anyone, nor sinks into regret, nor is entangled in desire for anything—who gives up all good and evil and just persists in devotion, that is the dearest to them. He has no longing, no hatred or regret. He maintains balance no matter the situation. This is the true devotee of God.
